The Makers · Moka, Mauritius
High-end machines, craft studios and a community where students, kids, hobbyists and entrepreneurs turn ideas into things you can hold.
The mission
Founded by the team behind MODEL, The Makers exists because Mauritius has world-class creativity and nowhere to build it: no shared machines, no collaborative floor, no bridge from idea to income. We built one, from 12 recycled shipping containers.
Why it matters
A side hustle, a second chance, a first prototype: access to tools changes what people can earn and imagine. That is the whole idea.
The Studios
Die-cutting, foiling, badge making, jewellery, quilling, crochet, stamps and stencils. Every craft tool you can imagine, sharpened and waiting.
iMacs, Silhouette cutters, heat presses for tees, mugs and caps, sublimation, A3 printing, 3D printers, vinyl and digital foiling.
Laser cutting, acrylic bending, electric die-cutting with 100+ dies, large-format plotting, power tools and big worktables.
Sessions
Book a bench and machines by session. Thirty minutes between each lets us reset the space for the next maker.
Machine time and materials bill at your member rates during the session.
Membership
Studio access, welcome kit, open-source design centre.
15% off materials, starter pack, workshop support. Made for students.
Pay-per-minute machines, marketplace bidding, lounge and premium designs.

The Classes
Two-hour hands-on classes, weekday afternoons and weekend mornings. Every child takes home what they make, every single session.
Colour, canvas, chaos.
First circuits that blink.
Engineering in disguise.
Tiny, shiny, proud.
Experiments that fizz.
Knots worth keeping.
Paper with feelings.
Curls of patience.
